Governor Hulusi ŞAHİN
Governor Hulusi ŞAHİN takes office: August 16, 2023
He was born in Ankara in 1971. After completing his primary, secondary and high school education in Ankara, he graduated in 1992 from the Faculty of Political Science at Ankara University, specializing in Public Administration.
In 1994, he began his career in public service as a candidate for the position of County Governor in Aksaray. After various internships, he completed an eight-month training course in foreign languages and British public administration in England. In 1997, after completing the 84th course for County Governors, he was appointed County Governor of Kâzımkarabekir County in Karaman Province. He then served for two years in Çıldır County in Ardahan Province. In 2001, he was appointed County Governor of Arsin County in Trabzon Province.
In 2004, he was seconded by the British Home Office to the University of Exeter in England to complete a Master's degree in Public Administration and Political Science. His Master's thesis on the British education system, entitled "Local Education Authorities under New Labour," was graded "good" by the university senate. He returned to Turkey in October 2005.
From 2006 to 2009 he was district governor of Besni in Adıyaman province, from 2009 to 2013 district governor of Sungurlu in Çorum province and from 2013 to 2016 district governor of Dilovası in Kocaeli province.
In 2016, he participated as a representative of the Ministry of the Interior in the program “Managing Diversity in a Globalising World: The Way Forward”, organized by the Institute of International Public Policy and Administration (INPUMA) of the University of Malaya in Malaysia.
From December 1, 2016, he served for two years as District Governor of Esenler in Istanbul. Between November 7, 2018, and May 18, 2022, Hulusi ŞAHİN held the office of Governor of Batman. From March 23, 2020, to May 18, 2022, he was Acting Mayor of Batman, and from May 18, 2022, to August 14, 2023, he was Governor of Malatya.
Governor Hulusi ŞAHİN was appointed Governor of Antalya by Presidential Decree No. 2023/376 dated 09.08.2023.
He speaks English, is married and has three children.
