The Department of Chemistry and Bioscience is offering a PhD stipend in Ecological Modelling of Invasive Insects

Do you have a background in biology and an interest in ecological modelling? And do you want to be a part of young and growing research group with lots of collaboration?

The Faculty of Engineering and Science, Department of Chemistry and Bioscience, Aalborg University is offering a PhD stipend in Ecological Modelling of Invasive Insects starting 1 August 2026 or soon thereafter.

You’ll join the growing EcoClimate Modelling research group and work at intersection of invasive insect ecology and ecological modelling. Your work will focus on understanding and predicting how invasive insects respond to current and future climates.

The project combines:

• Species distribution and population dynamic modelling

• Mechanistic models and microclimate modelling

• Laboratory experiments on environmental tolerances

• Data acquisition, analysis, and scientific writing

The project can also be tailored to your interests and expertise.

Teaching, PhD courses (30 ECTS), and an external research stay are part of the program.
