GKV-SV cuts funding for psychotherapeutic care.
The evaluation committee is sending a fatal signal for the care of the mentally ill.
"At the instigation of the umbrella organization of statutory health insurance funds (GKV-SV), the Extended Assessment Committee today reduced the remuneration for outpatient psychotherapy by 4.5 percent."
“This sends a fatal signal for the care of mentally ill patients, who are already facing a strained situation in outpatient psychotherapy despite rising health insurance contributions,” criticize Dr. Enno Maaß and Dr. Christina Jochim, Federal Chairpersons of the German Association of Psychotherapists (DPtV).
“We will not accept this under any circumstances and call on all our colleagues to stand up against this decades-long discrimination. Health insurance companies are thus depriving outpatient care for people with mental illnesses of hundreds of millions of euros annually. This will impair the availability of outpatient psychotherapy and further exacerbate the psychotherapeutic care situation. We will examine all legal options against this decision,” added Ulrike Böker, Vice Chair of the Federal Association of Contract Psychotherapists (bvvp).
