Foreign patients trust Turkish Doctors!

In 2025, the Alanya Training and Research Hospital provided healthcare services to 21,102 foreign patients from 112 countries. Due to its high quality and reliability of healthcare, the hospital has become a preferred destination for foreign patients.

Alanya, one of Turkey's most important tourist centers with its rich natural, cultural, and historical offerings, is also distinguished by its excellent healthcare system. The Alanya Teaching and Research Hospital, operated under the auspices of the Ministry of Health in cooperation with a university, enjoys a high reputation for its comprehensive range of healthcare services for international patients.

In a statement on this topic, Chief Physician Prof. Dr. Banu Karakuş Yılmaz explained: “In 2025, we provided medical services to 21,102 foreign patients from 112 countries. Citizens of the Russian Federation most frequently chose our hospital (4,449 patients). They were followed by Ukraine, Germany, Iran and Kazakhstan.”

Professor Dr. Karakuş Yılmaz stated that the departments most frequently visited by foreign patients were the clinics for internal medicine, cardiology, infectious diseases, and general surgery. She also noted that 297 foreign patients underwent successful surgeries in 2025.

Prof. Dr. Karakuş Yılmaz emphasized that her hospital was among the clinics that had qualified for the International Health Tourism Authorization Certificate, and said: “With our translators who speak four different languages, we can continue to offer our foreign patients high-quality, reliable and understandable health services.”

Prof. Dr. Karakuş Yılmaz also explained that the hospital serves a large region encompassing the districts of Anamur, Akseki, Gündoğmuş and Gazipaşa, adding: “In our hospital with a capacity of 420 beds, we provide outpatient services to over a thousand Turkish citizens daily; we continue our efforts to offer the best possible healthcare to both domestic and foreign patients.”

Alanya carob is on its way to Europe!

The process for obtaining local registration for Alanya Carob was officially initiated at the European Union level last year.

The ceremony to apply for EU Geographical Indication for carob from Alanya took place in the premises of ALTSO (Alanya Chamber of Commerce and Industry) with the participation of the District Governor Şakir Öner Öztürk.

In his speech as part of the program, District Governor Şakir Öner Öztürk stated that the procedure for registering carob in Alanya with the European Union had been initiated and that, in line with President Erdoğan's vision of "We should not leave a single square meter of our country unproductive," efforts would continue to be made to bring our agricultural products to international markets.

The district governor highlighted that, with the support of the Governor of Antalya, Hulusi Şahin, applications for geographical indication had been submitted for 16 more new products unique to Alanya, thanked all the institutions that add value to the products without alienating the producers from their land, and expressed hope that the process would be beneficial for Alanya.

District Governor, Şakir Öner Öztürk, participated in the cancer awareness program organized as part of the "Don't be too late, stay alive Alanya" project, which took place as part of National Cancer Week from April 1st to 7th.

District Governor Şakir Öner Öztürk participated in a cancer awareness program at the Alaattin Keykubat nursery school. This program was part of the "Don't be too late, stay alive Alanya" project, carried out in cooperation with the District Governor's Office, the District Directorate of National Education, and the District Directorate of Health as part of National Cancer Week from April 1st to 7th.

As part of the program, Dr. Yonca İnan and nurse Esma Ünver from KETEM (Center for Cancer Early Detection, Screening and Education) provided information about the factors that cause cancer, the importance of early detection and prevention methods.

New decisions regarding earthquakes have been made

Following his meeting with the President of the Council for Higher Education (YÖK), Professor Erol Özvar, Rector Professor Kenan Ahmet Türkdoğan participated in the meeting of the Earthquake Research Working Group, organized by the Disaster and Emergency Management Agency (AFAD). Rector Türkdoğan, himself a member of the AFAD-established working group, stated that important decisions were made at the meeting, which was chaired by AFAD President Governor Ali Hamza Pehlivan and attended by scientists and heads of AFAD units.

Türkdoğan explained that the meeting saw decisions made regarding the creation of the Turkish earthquake hazard map and earthquake risk map, the early warning system for earthquake damage (AFAD-DEHAS), and studies related to Turkish building regulations and their implementing regulations. He added, “In our earthquake-prone country, studies on this topic are increasing. After discussing the agenda items, including joint projects with relevant institutions and organizations as well as planned initiatives, the opinions and suggestions of the participants were evaluated, and various decisions were made. These decisions consistently included proposals for earthquake preparedness, damage minimization, and measures to be taken before, during, and after an earthquake. I hope that the decisions made at the meeting will benefit our country and its citizens.”

Traditional holiday greetings from the District Governor

The District Governor of Alanya, Şakir Öner Öztürk, exchanged festive greetings with protocol officials of the Alanya district and citizens during the traditional holiday celebrations.

District Governor Şakir Öner Öztürk visited the martyrs' cemetery of the Alanya garrison during the Ramadan holiday and commemorated the revered martyrs with prayers.

Şakir Öner Öztürk participated in the traffic checks conducted by the Turkish Ministry of the Interior under the motto "Bayram is incomplete without you" during Ramadan Bayram. He visited the police and gendarmerie officers on duty at the Dinek checkpoint and wished them all the best.

ALKU students visit a nursing home

Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University (ALKÜ) continues its commitment to social responsibility through its social projects. As part of these projects, students from the ALKÜ Nexus Software Development and Project Workshop conducted a "Technology Safety Training" for residents of a nursing home in Alanya during Senior Citizens' Week. Around 20 engineering students participated in the program, which was organized under the direction of Dr. Mert Gülsoy, lecturer at the ALKÜ Center for Distance Learning, Application and Research (ALKUZEM).

The program was finalized before its launch, its suitability was verified, and the technology underwent the necessary analysis. Internet use, data verification, online account security, and digital communication all carry the risk of customers gaining unauthorized access to the information they require.

WARNING ABOUT DIGITAL FRAUD

The training, which also addressed the increasing use of AI-powered fraud methods, emphasized the need to be wary of fraud perpetrated by technologies such as deepfakes (fake videos, images, sounds, and content that appear deceptively real thanks to artificial intelligence). The residents of the nursing home listened attentively to the explanations and asked questions. Lively discussions took place between the students and the residents following the training. As part of the visit, the seniors received care and hygiene products as gifts to brighten their holiday season. This initiative demonstrated once again that students are not only academically minded but also socially responsible. The visit concluded with a group photo.
