"Age Well Neighbourhoods" to plug gap in senior services

The "Age Well Neighbourhoods" initiative is a significant step toward plugging gaps in senior services, starting with Toa Payoh.

Media release from Duke-NUS Medical School:

As Singapore prepares for a future where one in four citizens will be aged 65 or above by 2030, Assoc Prof Rahul Malhotra and Dr Jeremy Lim-Soh from the Duke-NUS Centre for Ageing Research and Education are looking at how neighbourhoods can better support ageing-in-place.

The "Age Well Neighbourhoods" initiative is a significant step toward plugging gaps in senior services, starting with Toa Payoh. However, effective support goes beyond infrastructure—it requires a shift toward "person-centric" care that respects the unique routines and aspirations of our seniors.

By integrating place-centric policies with a deeper understanding of individual needs, we can create communities where seniors don't just live, but truly thrive with dignity and purpose.

The published message reads as follows:

Cécile Kohler and Jacques Paris have finally left Iran and are definitively FREE. Having spoken to me on the phone a few moments ago, they shared their emotion and joy at the prospect of soon returning to their country and loved ones.

We are proud of the long-term work accomplished by the teams at the Quai d'Orsay (French Ministry of Foreign Affairs) to achieve this result. We also thank our ambassador and staff in Tehran who, under extremely difficult conditions, ensured the safety of our citizens and their safe departure from Iran.
