Semmelweis University introduces EV-ICD therapy in Pécs

The Heart Institute of the University of Pécs has successfully performed its first EV-ICD (extravascular implantable cardioverter defibrillator) procedures under the expert guidance of Dr. Béla Merkely, Rector of Semmelweis University.

This cutting-edge device, first implemented at the Városmajor Heart and Vascular Center in October 2023, significantly reduces the risk of sudden cardiac death. Dr. Merkely aims to make it accessible to patients across Hungary who need it most.
