Alanya carob is on its way to Europe!
The process for obtaining local registration for Alanya Carob was officially initiated at the European Union level last year.
The ceremony to apply for EU Geographical Indication for carob from Alanya took place in the premises of ALTSO (Alanya Chamber of Commerce and Industry) with the participation of the District Governor Şakir Öner Öztürk.

In his speech as part of the program, District Governor Şakir Öner Öztürk stated that the procedure for registering carob in Alanya with the European Union had been initiated and that, in line with President Erdoğan's vision of "We should not leave a single square meter of our country unproductive," efforts would continue to be made to bring our agricultural products to international markets.
The district governor highlighted that, with the support of the Governor of Antalya, Hulusi Şahin, applications for geographical indication had been submitted for 16 more new products unique to Alanya, thanked all the institutions that add value to the products without alienating the producers from their land, and expressed hope that the process would be beneficial for Alanya.
The ceremony was attended by District Governor Şakir Öner Öztürk, Deputy Mayor of Alanya Nazmi Zavlak, Sertaç Gökhan, Head of the Rural Development Department of the Antalya Metropolitan Area, Duran Yılmaz, President of the Alanya Carob Producers Association, İhsan İnal, District Director of Agriculture and Forestry in Alanya, Tahir Göktepe, President of the Alanya Chamber of Agriculture, Murat Şahiner, Geographical Indication Officer of the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, Ali Hüddoğlu, President of the Alanya Tropical Fruit Producers Association, and BATEM experts.
