Exciting exchange on the campus in Neubiberg
Universität der Bundeswehr München:
Exciting exchange on the campus in Neubiberg: State Secretary Jens Plötner (center of picture) learned about current research and innovation projects of UniBWM with direct relevance for the German Armed Forces on March 5th.
The focus included, among other things, the lecture by Prof. Michael Eßig on new approaches to (armaments) procurement, resilient supply chains and the contribution of the University of the Bundeswehr Munich to the innovation ecosystem of the Federal Ministry of Defense and the Innovation Centre of the Bundeswehr (InnoZBw).
State Secretary Plötner was guided through the visit program by the President of unibwm, Prof. Eva-Maria Kern, and the Vice President for Research, Prof. Geralt Siebert (right).
Another program highlight was the presentation of the dtec.bw project SeRANIS – Mission. In the field of antenna technology, the research team led by Prof. Andreas Knopp demonstrated technologies for secure, robust and flexible satellite communication – including solutions for the protected transmission of sensitive data.
The AI lab ultimately focused on the protection of critical infrastructure. Prof. Thomas Braml and his team demonstrated non-destructive testing methods in the construction industry as well as methods for assessing civilian bridges regarding their military usability.
The visit has once again demonstrated the importance of closely linking research, innovation, and military application.
