TÜBİTAK, The 10th National Antarctic Expedition is complete!
The scientific team, which conducted research on the White Continent as part of the 10th National Antarctic Expedition under the patronage of the President, under the responsibility of the Ministry of Industry and Technology and coordinated by the TÜBİTAK Polar Research Institute, has returned home.
The expedition consisted of a team of 17 people in total, including 16 Turkish and 1 foreign researcher.
Fifteen research projects were carried out.
Significant research has been carried out in numerous fields, including climate change, polar ecosystems, geosciences and atmospheric sciences; and international partnerships have been developed within the framework of science diplomacy.
Maintenance work was carried out at the Turkish scientific research camp on Horseshoe Island; in addition, the nautical chart studies were continued.
Annual data were collected from the low-frequency (VLF) measurement station established jointly with the USA; long-term monitoring studies were carried out; and maintenance work was performed on the GNSS stations.
High school students who had won first place in the TEKNOFEST TÜBİTAK polar research project competition also participated in the expedition and had the opportunity to test their projects in Antarctica.
