Universität Innsbruck
The Südtiroler Sparkasse Banks Foundation's Science Prize was awarded in a festive ceremony at the Claudiana on March 2nd.
Since 2008, this award has recognized the overall scientific work of scientists at the University of Innsbruck who have made a significant contribution to the success of the University of Innsbruck.
This year, the jury decided to award the science prize to two outstanding scientists:
-Helmut Ritsch (Institute for Astro- and Particle Physics) was honored for his work in the field of theoretical quantum optics.
-Ruben Sommaruga (Institute of Ecology) accepted the award for his outstanding limnological research in mountain waters.
The certificates were presented by foundation president Stefan Pan and vice-rector Gregor Weihs.
In addition, the Südtiroler Sparkasse Bank Foundation's research prizes for outstanding current achievements were awarded during the celebrations.
We congratulate Monika Cziferszky (Institute of Pharmacy, Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry), Federica Malfatti (Institute of Christian Philosophy) and Thomas Wegmann (Institute of German Studies) on this recognition of their work.
