Bundeskriminalamt (BKA)
75 years of the BKA – 75 years of change
The Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year. At its founding in 1951, the BKA had 355 employees – today it has over 9,000 from more than 70 professional groups – in Wiesbaden, Meckenheim, Berlin, and as liaison officers around the globe.
This anniversary not only marks a long history of cooperation between the Federal Government, the Länder and international partners, but also the constant change and adaptation to new threats and challenges.
For 75 years, the Federal Criminal Police Office has stood for security and responsibility. With its innovative strength and expertise, it protects the people of Germany.
The motto of the anniversary year is therefore:
Security, responsibility, innovation.
75 years of the BKA: Doing the right thing together.
