With the new agreement between the Ministry of Finance of the State of Nordrhein-Westphalia and the Ministry for Home Affairs, Municipal Affairs, Construction and Digitalisation of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia on “NRW.Genius”, we in North Rhine-Westphalia are taking the next consistent step in the digitalization of our administration: In the future, the AI assistant will be operated not only by Information and Technology North Rhine-Westphalia (IT.NRW) but also by the data centre of the tax administration.
Why is this so important?
With this agreement, NRW.Genius is being brought into one of the most data-intensive and legally complex administrative bodies in the state. Independent operation by the tax administration's data center creates the necessary technical and organizational foundation to use generative artificial intelligence securely and in compliance with the law, even under the strict requirements of tax secrecy.
In this way, we combine the highest standards in data protection and IT security with a noticeable reduction in workload for our employees. More efficient processes create more time for technically demanding tasks and thus improve service for citizens and businesses.
