Interdisziplinäre Fortbildung (CME) zur Behandlung der Carotisstenose
Prof. Dr. med. Christian-Alexander Behrendt:
Dear colleagues from the medical and nursing treatment areas,
We are pleased to announce an interdisciplinary continuing education course on the treatment of carotid stenosis.
Accredited by the Hamburg Medical Association (3 CME credits).
Together with representatives from neurology, vascular surgery, neuroradiology, and anesthesiology, we aim to explore our patients' treatment pathways – from evidence-based prevention and stepwise diagnostics to case conferences, surgical and interventional therapies, and follow-up care. Here, all areas mesh together like gears in a machine.
-What is the significance of modern diagnostic procedures such as ultrasound or the detection of microemboli?
-What should be done in the event of a stroke or possible symptoms of carotid stenosis?
-Which invasive procedure is appropriate in which specific case?
-Is general anesthesia with intubation equivalent to local anesthesia?
-What role does a temporary shunt play, and how can the cervical nerves be protected?
-Is the external carotid artery important?
-How should complications following carotid stenosis treatment be managed?
-What antithrombotic therapy and secondary prophylaxis do patients require?
-When is the optimal time for structured follow-up care?
The format is case-based and offers numerous opportunities for discussions and questions and
Q&A!
We look forward to seeing you and to many questions and discussions!
