Judge at the Finance Court, Dr. Dominik Ortwald
Dr. Dominik Ortwald will be a judge at the Finance Court from March 1, 2026.
Dr. Ortwald initially completed a dual study program at the University of Applied Sciences for Finance NRW in Nordkirchen.
During his subsequent law studies, he continued to work part-time in the tax administration. After passing his first state examination, he took up a position as a research assistant at the Chair of Tax Law at Ruhr University Bochum under Prof. Dr. Roman Seer.
In parallel, he passed the tax advisor examination, earned a doctorate on a tax law topic, and completed his legal traineeship at the Bochum Regional Court. Afterwards, Dr. Ortwald initially continued to work as a lecturer at Ruhr University Bochum before moving to the Münster Tax Court in 2023.
He works in the 5th Senate of the Münster Finance Court, which has special jurisdiction over questions of value added tax law and also handles income tax cases.
In addition to his judicial duties at the Finance Court, Dr. Ortwald recently co-organized the annual Moot Court held at the Finance Court in Münster.
