More comfort and less CO₂ on the regional trains of Lower Austria!

Peter Hanke:

Together with the state of Lower Austria, we are securing the financing for seven more modern, battery-powered multiple units.

The new battery-powered Cityjets from FLIRT are being built by Stadler for ÖBB and will be used on regional trains in Lower Austria from the 2028/2029 timetable.

This means greater comfort, barrier-free access, and climate-friendly mobility in rural areas. By switching from diesel to battery power, we save approximately 1,200 tons of CO₂ and half a million liters of diesel annually.
