At the delegates' meeting on March 10, 2026 in Cologne, the chairman of the DRB NRW called on politicians to accelerate the digitalization of the justice system as quickly as possible and to urgently address the staff shortages.

At the high-level meeting of state representatives, the chairman of the North Rhine-Westphalia state association, Prof. Dr. Gerd Hamme, appealed to the politicians to urgently address the further development of the digitalization of the justice system.

Electronic files and electronic court proceedings are still largely underdeveloped. He also called for staffing shortages in the state's prosecutors' offices and administrative courts to be filled as quickly as possible.

“My colleagues are working with great dedication to fulfill their duties to the best of their ability. But they cannot and do not want to do it alone. They are working themselves to exhaustion. Don't let them down; create the conditions for improving IT infrastructure!” demanded the chairman of the state parliament's legal experts and the Minister of Justice.

Furthermore, the chairman urged politicians to quickly find a solution to the “undignified squabble” over setting a constitutionally permissible minimum amount for appropriate remuneration of public officials.
