Six key legal institutions. Six women at the top.
In 2025, the Zurich legal system made a small piece of history: For the first time, six central institutions were simultaneously headed by women – the Justice and Home Affairs Directorate of the Canton of Zurich, the High Court of the Canton of Zurich, the Administrative Court of the Canton of Zurich, the Social Insurance Court of the Canton of Zurich, the Public Prosecutor's Office and the Zurich Bar Association.
In the short film “Democracy Talk – Focus on Law”, released yesterday for International Women’s Day, the six women discuss the role of their institutions with regard to the rule of law and democracy, and what motivates them to take on leadership roles.
Those portrayed in Sandra De Vito's film include government councilor Jacqueline Fehr and chief public prosecutor Susanne Leu.
