A long overdue agreement, but one that still leaves much room for improvement.

Statement by the President of the German Medical Association, Dr. Klaus Reinhardt, ahead of the final reading of the Hospital Reform Adaptation Act (KHAG) tomorrow, Friday, in the German Bundestag:
"It is good that the federal and state governments have finally agreed on the Hospital Reform Adaptation Act and that it is expected to be passed tomorrow. Despite numerous remaining open questions, the necessary restructuring of the hospital landscape in Germany can now begin. For the first time, the reform introduces a uniform planning system nationwide, and the transformation fund provides resources that can set many things in motion. The goal must be to sustainably strengthen the quality of care, pool medical expertise, and guarantee comprehensive, future-proof care for all patients."
