Strong voices in the Higher Regional Court of Cologne

Equality is an ongoing process – and this was made clear again today before the Higher Regional Court of Cologne.

To mark International Women's Day, the equal opportunities officers of the Higher Regional Court of Cologne and the central IT service provider of the Nordrhein-Westfalen judiciary invited guests to an internal reception.

The President of the Higher Regional Court of Cologne, Dr. Bernd Scheiff, welcomed the guests in the plenary hall. The State Secretary of the Ministry of Justice, Dr. Daniela Brückner, also addressed the attendees.

Christa Nickels was a guest speaker. She is one of the founding members of the Green Party in Nordrhein-Westfalen. As a former Parliamentary State Secretary, she offered insights into her political career. Her experiences illustrated what it means to make oneself heard as a woman in male-dominated structures.

Today, Nickels is considered a role model for a combative but value-oriented policy that paved the way for subsequent generations of women in parliament.
