Upper Austria is now subsidizing solar power storage
Markus Achleitner talks about the subsidizing solar power storage of Upper Austria:
Those who have already invested in a photovoltaic system are taking responsibility for future generations. We are now ensuring that this commitment pays off even more: Upper Austria is closing the financing gap for retrofitting solar storage systems.
Solar energy storage systems make weather-dependent energy an even more valuable contribution to self-sufficiency in electricity and also contribute to grid stabilization.
From March 1st, the state of Upper Austria will support solar power storage systems with:
-150 euros per kWh nominal capacity
-up to 15 kWh
-a maximum of 40% of the eligible gross investment costs
-for private individuals, municipalities and associations.
With this move, we are deliberately closing a gap, as previously, storage solutions were only subsidized for new PV systems. Those who had already invested in a PV system and now wanted to retrofit were left out. We have now changed that.
Upper Austria is deliberately promoting the retrofitting of solar power storage systems because we are pursuing a holistic energy transition: Anyone who says yes to renewable energies must also say yes to the expansion of the electricity grid and must also say yes to electricity storage.
Upper Austria already generates 91% of its electricity consumption from renewable sources. 71% of its space heating comes from climate-friendly energy. These figures show that the energy transition is not just a buzzword for us, but a lived responsibility – supported by businesses, associations, municipalities, and committed citizens.
