Bundesministerium der Justiz und für Verbraucherschutz:

Millions of pornographic images of women, created using artificial intelligence, are circulating on the internet. This not only violates personal rights but is also deeply degrading and reveals age-old power structures. For those affected, digital violence can have consequences just as devastating as traditional violence.

This means we need to better protect victims from digital violence.

Currently, the law is lagging behind technological developments. Therefore, Federal Justice Minister Stefanie Hubig emphasizes: "I will soon present a draft law against digital violence." With this draft, we want to adapt criminal law and also make it easier for victims to take action themselves against online legal violations.

The law provides for the following:

- Criminalization of digital intrusion attempts (deepfakes)

- Expansion of existing criminal offenses (digital voyeurism)

- Strengthening of victims' rights (blocking of accounts and access to information)

- Improved prosecution (storage of IP addresses and expedited proceedings)

The fight against digital violence is a task for society as a whole. When women are humiliated or insulted online, we all need to raise our voices.
